Bloggers Earn the Right to Report Federal Court Case

Written by NetWriter on January 13th, 2007 in Writing News.

Vice President Cheney’s former chief of staff, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby’s trial is about to start. He is the highest-ranking official in the Bush administration to face federal charges (perjury and obstruction of justice), but that’s not the only news-maker of a case that promises to be a media frenzy, according to Washington Press Staff Writer Alan Sipress.

For the first time ever, bloggers have won press credentials to attend a federal trial in the U.S. The Media Bloggers Association, headed up by association president Robert Cox, have earned two seats in the one hundred seat media section during the proceedings. The two seats will rotate among the 1,000 members, some of which are notable in and of themselves (Rory O’Connor, James Joyner).
