Lackadaisical Freelance Copywriting

Written by NetWriter on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007 in Copywriting Basics, Freelance Writing, Copywriting Fees.

I’ve been more than a bit lackadaisical of late with this blog, and with my freelance copywriting work in general. Several factors have contributed: my laptop worked and then suddenly it didn’t, I suffered a major computer crash with the main computer I use, I’ve been fighting a cold for some time now, I moved into a new place in a new town I’ve only spent two weeks in previously, I am trying increasing my customer and client base while still working through existing projects and finally I’ve got a couple of personal book projects on the go that I’m trying to get into the hands of a publisher ASAP.

Still, these are excuses and nothing more. It’s time to start blogging again.

And with my renewed blogging attempts, I’ve decided to change the focus of this blog somewhat. It will still be business-based – meaning I’ll be writing about my current projects where an NDA doesn’t exist, talking about how I find work and what resources I use while writing – but I feel that it should appeal mostly to other writers, and not necessarily just my clients.

With that in mind, I’m going to start posting the copywriting jobs I come across once again. I miss those postings, and readers seemed to really dig them. Plus, I still have yet to find anyone else who posts only freelance copywriting work. Many focus on freelance writing work (like Deb Ng’s, one of my all time favorites), but copywriting varies dramatically in that it’s, well, nonfiction. Plus, the intent is usually to sell rather than to entertain or inform.

As well, I’ll share tools, software and tidbits that I’ve found useful in my day-to-day work, while offering up FAQ’s and advice to both copywriters and project owners to make their work easier. That includes knowing how much to charge as a freelance copywriter (or how much to offer), where to find freelance copywriters or freelance copywriting work, how to further your skill set and where to research your copywriting project.

Let me know what you think of the new format. It’s free to post a comment and you don’t have to sign up.
